Charpy Impact Testing - Factors and Variables
Charpy Impact Test also known as the Charpy V-Notch test, is used for measuring the amount of energy that a material absorbs at the time of fracture. The “Strain Rate” test is conducted in a standardised form, and the energy absorbed reveals a material notch’s toughness. Factors and Variables of the Charpy Notch test The Charpy test apparatus includes a pendulum with a known height and weight that is dropped from a given height and impacts the notched specimen. An important factor is the energy absorbed, determined by measuring the pendulum’s height before and after the impact/fracture.
