APPLICATION OF MAGNETIC EXTENSOMETER IN EXCAVATIONS

The magnetic extensometer is a system which is used for examining the settlement and heave in foundations, digging and barriers. Settlement occurs at the depth or the position and is identified there. It is there only where the settlement is measured. The soil extensometer incorporates magnetic targets that are placed so that they can move freely outside the access case or inclinometer case which is flush joined. The 3 or 6 Leaf Spider, magnetic settlement plates or magnetic joints can be the targets. The relative position of the magnetic targets is used for measuring the settlement. This is done by using a Reed Switch Probe which helps in identifying the magnets which are lowered down through the central access casing.
